At Genesis We want our students back!
Genesis has entered contract negotiations for a new charter term beginning on July 1st, 2025, with Saint Louis University (SLU). SLU is an active sponsor of charter schools in both Kansas City and Saint Louis with a deep commitment to urban education. As a research institution, the University leverages charter schools as laboratories of innovation, while using multiple measures of quality to assess performance, including student growth. There is a tentative deadline of April 1st to complete our negotiations and we will keep you updated.
For us to properly plan for the 2025-26 school year and guarantee your student’s seat we are now accepting 2025-26 intent to reenroll forms. Simply click here. Completing the reenrollment form will not impact your ability to accept offers from other schools or change your mind in the future, but simply guarantees a seat at Genesis. We currently expect a final decision by June 20th
Please know that we want your child to return! Should you have questions about how to proceed, please don’t hesitate to contact the school. Should you have concerns about your child’s progress or our ability to meet their needs, please don’t hesitate to call myself or Mr. Wright.
The longer students stay with us, the better we are able to meet their needs. We believe we have more programs and support for students than any other elementary school in Kansas City.
Re-enrollment at Genesis is summed up by Three Words:
- STAY Changing schools causes lost learning time. Students who stay in the same school outperform those that transfer.
- LEARN Genesis has advanced capacity to target individual student data and help students learn. Data shows that student learning improves over time.
- GROW We have multiple programs to meet the Social-Emotional and aspirational goals of students. We want them to grow with us.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding Reenrollment:
- I already applied and accepted an offer at another school. Is it too late to change and if I reenroll now will I lose my seat at the school I accepted.
We would not recommend that you give up a seat at a school your child has been accepted while we are awaiting a decision. You can complete the reenrollment form now and make your decision later.
- Do I have to do it on-line?
No. You can stop by the front desk or we can send a one-page form home with your child. If you have an e-mail address, reenrolling on-line will give you access to our parent portal so you can see other information about your child.
- When do I have to reenroll by?
You should reenroll now to guarantee your child’s seat for next year. Should we be successful in court, we will begin making offers to new students after we know who is reteruning. If you do not reenroll by June 1st, you may be placed on a waiting list or lose your seat.
- After I complete this, am I done?
Not completely. We will have parents complete registration, including transportation and providing proof of residency prior to August.
- I don’t plan on being in Kansas City next year, should I still reenroll?
Unless you are sure you will not return, then Yes you should reenroll now and guarantee your seat. If later you move or know you will not be coming back, please contact the office so we can offer your seat to someone else.
